1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

What a powerful verse. But what does it really mean?

Does it mean we can casually say, “God, I did it again, but Your Word says You will forgive me,” and then go on without a changed heart?

 Let’s look back!

Verse 8: “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

This passage was written to believers, and it reminds us of something important: we have to be willing to admit when we fall short. If we cannot acknowledge our sin, our pride can get in the way of what God wants to do in us and through us.

Now, please do not take this as a reason to walk around telling everyone how terrible you are or how you cannot do anything right.

That is not the point!

God wants us to be bold for Him, but He also wants us to be humble enough to admit when we are wrong. We are human. We all have faults. And none of us are in a position to look down on someone else because their struggles look different from ours.

So let’s be honest before God. Let’s confess our sins, receive His forgiveness, and then turn around and build each other up.
